Missouri lawmakers did not prioritize energy affordability this legislative session

Lawmakers have now left Jefferson City with no solution to the high costs of electricity that are plaguing Missourians.

More than 300 bills relative to utilities were introduced by lawmakers. Only about a handful of bills attempted to address energy affordability for Missourians –– and of those, zero were sent to Gov. Kehoe’s desk. These inactions come one year after the legislature fast-tracked a bill that allows utility companies to start billing ratepayers for the construction of new power plants, before the construction even starts.
